Dhal Making

I scaled up my Dhal recipe today by six. I normally make enough for a table worth of people. Tonight's will be for a Bonfire Party's worth of people.

For the Dhal portion, you literally dump all the ingredients in a big pot, and then turn the heat on high - until it starts boiling.

With a portion as big as this you should keep stirring, else the lentils get burnt and stick to the bottom.

I've made this dhal today for a bonfire party - but its also my goto when feeding bands for gigs.

One thing I love about it is how dhal-y it makes the house smell. They should maybe make dhal candles, thinking about it.


I play melodica in a band called Troutflies. Last night we supported a band called Golomb from Columbus Ohio.

Fat Spatula were also on the bill. It was all very good and I drank too much beer.
