I just used Oblique Strategies Brian Eno and Peter Schmitt's tool for promoting creativity - it's a set of cards and this digital version gives you a random one every time you refresh the page - the one it gave me was Remove Restrictions - so I thought I'd remove the restriction of sentences and paragraphs and type this a big mush - only separated by emdashes - which I guess denotes a sentence - but - kind - of - has - a - different - feel - if you can see - what I'm doing - in fact there are - no - restrictions on what - I can or can not do - this doesn't have to be readable - this blog is just for me - and - I would rather that it stays that way - its so easy for me to slip into shoulds - shouldn'ts - what if this - what if that - back - forth - up - down - what if something just is and is just free association - and the normal rules slip - slip - slip - away - I hope no one ever reads this if I'm honest - or do I - I don't care actually it is just an experiment on a day where I am both hungover and over caffienated which is not so good of a combo you know - its a little dangerous - doesn't feel that great - I am wondering when this should finish and realise that that in itself is a restriction - and that this is all about removing restrictions / limits / whatever so it could be good if this just ended now but it won't and now all the em dashes have dissapeared entirely because I guess that they were also just another restriction and were only serving making this easier read but not actually geting to the depths of things I sometimes think that the restrictions I place upon myself stop me from doing what I want to do like I do not speak to that person or email that person for fear of embarrasment but that in itself is a restriction that I place upon myself and find myself again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again restricting myself but for no real good reason other than - than - than - than - than - I do not know what - I have no - reason - to restrict - my - self - so - that - is - why - the - em- dashes - are - now here and now they aren't.
